My School's 51st sports meet @ MJC

Hi everyone, my school’s 51st sports meet just happened yesterday and I’m here to blog about it. Ok let me take a step back in time one month to be exact. My teacher was a member of the sports meet committee so, my class and I helped out by doing anything we were tasked with, and I was in charge of selecting the songs for the day. I spent almost the whole day sitting in front of my classroom’s computer selecting the songs there were a few rules that I had to follow the rules were:
  1. No vulgar words in the songs
  2. It must be songs that kids would enjoy
  3. The songs must have a fast tempo
So theses were the rules that I had to follow all so, I had to dig deep into my mind to find the songs that I knew that could comply with the rules, I had a hard time! But I did it! The whole school had to learn a mass dance for the sports meet, the song that we had to dance to was Hot And Cold by Katy Perry, the dance was too fast for me to follow but, after a few times I slowly got the hang of it. Everything was set for the sports meet.  When I went home I told myself “ Just go out there and have fun it doesn’t matter if I bring home a medal!”

Woke up at 5:00 am to get ready for the event, the bus came to pick me up at 6:10am to send me to Meridian Junior Collage (MJC) for the event. Once I arrived I could hear the songs that I picked for the event. Anyway I was heading to my tent to join my teammates.  At 8:00 the event started off with the dance we learned, I was too busy thinking about my race to dance. After the dance the MCs told the teams to show their cheers, I must say that the blue team was the loudest among all the teams. Well for the first few events my team did not look too good, it was blue that leading. When my event came, my heart was pounding like a drum, I told myself to relax and run. When I got onto the track I was running as fast as I can, I ended up getting the 3rd place in the race. After the race I was so tired that I almost collapsed. The events went on as normal. At the next event I took part in  was a team race where we had dress a person up; our team came in 2nd place. After that event it was time for the prize presentation, I had a sudden urge to go to the washroom, one of my friends helped me to collect my medals. The overall winner was my team. We were jumping for joy!! We went to take a team photo. Everyone was giving me compliments on the win. But I said, “ You did well too!” After the event I went home with a smileJ

The power of Social Media

Social media is so widely used these days. I think it’s great for people like me because I can keep in touch with family and friends without having to go anywhere, I can just sit in front of my laptop and start chatting with my family and friends. Before I found out about Facebook, Twitter and whatsapp the only way I could communicate was by calling or meeting the person face to face to talk, there are 2 reasons why I dislike the 2 things I have just mentioned 1. Talking on the phone for long hours will make your bill high and you are talking out loud and everyone will know what you are talking about. 2. Going to meet the person- If I didn’t want to call I would have to meet the person, which is tiring for me and my parents to travel all the way just to tell that person that one piece of info. Now that most of us have whatsapps or facebook it’s ease to share info.
Social media is also an awesome way to remember events. Sure you can take pictures and save them on your computer but what if your computer breaks down the next day? If you upload the pictures onto any social network it’s going to be there forever, for you to remember and cherish the event.
Me and my extended family very rarely meet up but now when we meet up we have something to talk about. Let’s say my cousin just got back from an overseas trip and if he or she talks about it on facebook, we can ask things like “ Hey how was your trip?”  We start talking about it. Social networking is great but nothing is better than doing things as family and friends in real life because real relationships are what keep us close. J

My Really weird Childhood

Every now and then I like to sit down and think about my childhood, to be honest when I was a kid I didn't like playing with toys or watch cartoons. Instead of cartoons I liked watching the daily news, I  can still remember sitting next to my grandaunt every night at 9 am to watch the news with her. Every time I finished watching the news my mum would ask me for the latest developments from Singapore and around the globe. I also enjoyed reading when I was younger, due to watching the news every night my vocabulary was good which assisted me in reading.
I enjoyed socializing around with people for fun, I became good friends with all the teachers in the school. I exposed my good social skills so they chose me to represent the school at countless events. I had the honor of having my picture on the magazine and newspaper. I was labeled as the superstar of the school LOL.
Now, my childhood might seem like a dream come true for most. But there's a part of my childhood that wasn't pretty. I tried really hard to fit in with my own age group but they rejected me so every Chinese new year, I would hide in my  room and cry. All my relatives would come into my room and ask me why are you crying? I did not respond them. But there was one cousin of mine that talked to me, we found that we had a few things in common. The both of us enjoy reading, my aunt was my mum's insurance agent from AIA. My cousin would come for his weekly visits to my house, during his visit we would read a book together. There was one time we went to the discovery centre together it was one of my best childhood memories. My childhood had it's ups and downs, but it was enjoyable childhood See You :)
