NDP Preview 2013:)

Hi everyone, my school had invited me to watch the National Day Preview and I’m here to blog about this wonderful event. Woke up at 9am to have my morning meal. After my meal my brother & I went to watch the legend of the crazy monk on television. Went to get ready at 11am, as I was getting ready I realized that were no white pants, I freaked out after 30 minutes my sister handed me a pair of white pants. After getting ready I went to the dining table to have my lunch, my sister made sandwiches for the three of us and my brother made me a cup of milo without any sugar!! After finishing that really nice meal I went to put on my shoes. At 12: 36 the bus came to pick me up. When we arrived at school only for 20 minutes than we were off to event venue, during the journey I was talking to my CCA teacher about the latest news and all that stuff.

When we arrived at the floating platform my teacher gave me my dinner, I had a shroom burger from Burger King and a cup of mango juice. At 7pm the show started with the hosts coming onto the platform, shortly after all of the ministers had arrived the Red lions were jumping out of their plane at 50,000 feet and for the first time in history there was a female red lion. After the red loins segment it was time for the armed forces showcase, showcasing the professionalism of the men and women of the Singapore armed forces, after the showcase the actors from Ah Boys to Men came onto the stage to sing the theme song of the movie.

At this time it was getting dark so I took out the lightstick from the fun pack. The performers were singing songs, then I heard a voice saying hi and I wondered where was it coming from, it was the merlion. The merlion wanted to join us on stage but, he was scared to swim over then we had to cheer for him to swim over and when he dived down an animation of the merlion swimming over to the platform started to show on the screen. When the merlion arrived it started to sing, after singing fireworks started to shoot out of the merlion’s mouth. The show ended with some fireworks. I took some random of MBS. I went home at about 10:37Pm see you soon 

Singapore Wins against Chef Ramsay

Recently the world-class chef Gordon Ramsay was here in Singapore to test his skills against local hawkers to see who could cook to the better version of local dishes. For those of you who don’t know who he is, he’s a 5 star chef that owns his chain of restaurants all 5 stars all across the UK. Besides having 5 star restaurants he has appeared in TV shows like Hell’s Kitchen and Master chef UK.

He went to some of Singapore’s best food stalls to learn about the dish. The finial showdown took place at the Newtown food center last night Mr Ramsay won with his version of the chilli crab but lost with chicken rice and laksa. He did put up a good fight. The reason I think that the hawkers won was because the hawkers are used to cooking the dishes, while Mr Ramsay is used to cooking western dishes. See You Soon.

My Favourite Final 1 contestant

Hello everyone, is anyone watching The Finial 1 on channel 5? Well if you are I'm going to tell about one contestant that has caught my eyes over the past weeks. His name is Shaun Jansen I must say that he’s the best looking among all of the contestants! He is really talented I think he has the talent to be an artist in the Singapore music industry. He’s not only good at singing English songs he’s also good at singing Chinese songs, the other day I was watching the judges’ choice edition of the show and I heard him singing and it was AMAZING So, vote for him via the facebook I’ll include the link below See You Soon

A Journey Into The Animal Kingdom @ Singapore Zoo

Hello everyone, my family and I just went to the zoo yesterday and I’m going to blog about it. My sister was thinking of a place for a family outing, she asked the rest of the family where we wanted to go for an outing, the rest of us had no idea where we wanted to go so, in the end we decided to go to the zoo. My sister tasked me with finding all of the needed info I had to find out ticket prices and all that kind of stuff. Everything was set for the outing. I asked my sister for the timing to wake up and she said 8am but, I though she said 7:30am so, I set my clock 1 hour back to wake me up at 6am. The next morning my alarm sounded and I was trying to wake my mum and younger brother up, then I saw my sister’s message, I was like “ Oh dear I woke them up at the wrong time!” After I said sorry to both my brother and mum I went to get onto my wheelchair to get ready. At 8:05 my grandaunt came to pick us up to send us to the zoo.

Once we arrived we had a light snack before heading into the zoo. My sister went to get the tickets; the ticket price was $110 when I searched for it online but thanks to my mum’s NTUC membership card we were able to get a discount. At 9:00 am I was the first one to go into the zoo my sister told me that I only had 10 seconds to get pass the barrier, I managed to wheel myself pass the barrier. The first animal that we came across was the Crocodiles. There was one crocodile that was completely still, my brother and I wondered weather was it a real or a fake crocodile, to find out we looked at it closely then we saw it snapped it’s jaws than we were like “ Ok it’s real!!”

The next animal we went to look at were the White Tigers, I told my grandaunt “ I’m going to look at my brother right now.” The reason I made that joke was because my brother was born in the year of the tiger in the Chinese zodiac. When we got to the white tiger’s area, one was sleeping and the other one was walking around, my brother said, “This is like me every morning.”  After we left the tiger area we went to the Ah Meng restaurant to have our meal, I had my all- time favourite dish chicken rice.

After a nice meal we went to the insects dome to see the butterflies, one of them actually landed on my brother’s shoulders my brother was screaming and holding onto my grandaunt’s legs ha ha. At this point my forearms wanted to die after all of the wheeling and pushing. None of us wanted to see the snakes, my sister wanted to  see the snakes then my sister went to see the snakes by herself while my grandaunt and I waited at the loin’s area. Now I was so tried that I started yawning, the sleeping lion woke up to roar at me. Our last animal encounter for the day was the polar bear. It was freezing cold in there.

After a long day at the zoo we went to Swensen’s for dinner, when it was time for me to have my hot fudge subdue my dad handed me a really long spoon. I kept dropping it. It  was a really fun day See You Soon.                                                                            

Stop Smoking !!

Now Singapore is a really clean place to live, even throwing a piece of thrash on the ground will get you fined up to $500. In Singapore you can’t eat on the buses & trains. One of the most common pieces of trash I see would be cigarettes butts on the floors in some lifts, and the smell is just awful! Whenever I ride a lift that has that smell I feel like dying. Luckily the NEA has launched a campaign to help spread awareness of no smoking in public. My younger brother just showed me an ad for anti smoking and I thought that it was funny. Hi everyone, sorry I haven’t been posting for a few days. I have been having a small problem in school but I’m happy to share that the problem has been resolved!

3. Go Shopping

If you’re a shopaholic I’ve got good news for you. In Singapore there are plenty of shopping malls for you to shop at till you drop. But if you were a hardcore shopper I would recommend you to go to the busiest mall in Singapore, ION Orchard. That mall has all of the brands I can think of from Lv to Rolex. And if you’re a food lover that mall has many restaurants worth trying out.

2. Try out the local food

If you don’t want to spend a few big bucks on a restaurant, you can try out the local food we have in Singapore. You will never find food in the world that can compare to Singapore’s local food. There are many types of food in Singapore from the famous chicken rice to fish ball noodles just to name a few. So if you are food lover it’s worth giving it a try.

1.            Visiting history Landmarks In Singapore

If you’re keen to learn more about Singapore’s history you can visit one of the history landmarks. One of them being the Merlion. There are 5 merlions in Singapore. The merlion has a body of a fish and a head of a lion. The fish body represents Singapore’s humble beginnings as a fishing port. The lion head represents how Singapore got it’s name. Singa means loin in Malay. And since the founder of Singapore first saw a loin upon arriving to this land, he then decided to name the land the lion city.

Hey guys, I'm back after a long break ,. being a Singaporean all my life there are a few things I love about my county. The first  I love about Singapore would be the National Day Parade I would always be looking forward to the fireworks display every year on the 9th of August. Every year the NDP has a theme and this year's theme is " Loving Singapore Our Home". The NDP also has a different logo  every year. Every year the NDP has a different theme song this year's theme song is Love at first light, preformed by Olivia Ong . The Singapore flag is red and white in colour has five stars and a crescent To find out more about the Singapore flag  Happy National Day guys :)

Racial Harmony Day 2012

Hey guys, I'm back, don't you just love how Singapore is a multi racial county. Today is the day to admire the races that we have in Singapore.
So today in school I had to dress up in my most handsome outfit, when I got school I met all my friends all of us were dressed our best outfits. When we got our teacher talked to the class about racial harmony, and more importantly to be friends with people of all four races in Singapore.
About 30 minutes later we to the school hall, when I got to the hall I was greeted by delightfully sights and sounds I spend about an hour in the hall learning about all the races in Singapore.

At 10:30 I had a wonderful meal 5 of boxes of rice. After that I went home with a slime on my face.

never give up

Hey guys I'm back so let's begin our topic for today never giving up.
Have you ever been mocked by someone because of the way you look? Don't worry you are not alone.
I too also been mocked by people because of my handicap of not being able to walk whenever I  go out I will try to hide form people. Sometimes I even hear people whisper to themselves why is this boy so weird. It broke my heart once I head that. From that day onward I told myself I will prove these people wrong one day.
Sometime in early 2004 I was called by Mediacorp they said they needed some kids to sing the theme song of the President's star Charity. I  thought to myself  this is a chance to prove some people wrong.

Going to Mediacorp

So I was all set to embark on life-changing journey when I got to Mediacorp the first person I met was actor Mr Tay ping hui. So from there, we begun to bond with each other we were like best friends for a period of one moth. During the recording session which lasted over 5 hours. I have never been so tired in my whole life I felt like I wanted to give up. But with a few kind words from family and friends and more importantly the kind words of Mr Ping Hui. Knowing that my whole family was behind me the whole way I made up my mind to finish the song and not to give up.

The Big Night  

The night of the show finally came I was backstage trying to tell myself " you can do this your whole family is waiting for you to go live on-air!" So with that being said I sat down with the rest of the cast. At 8pm that night the show started off with a welcoming of the Guest Of Honour. Mr & Mrs SR Nathan that was my first time ever seen so many people in my entire life. After all the acts were over it was time for the Grand finale, this was my time to shine. When I stepped on stage I had the feeling of accomplishment the act of the entire cast singing Reach Out For Love ( The Theme song for the show) raised  a total of $4000 to the president challenge fund.I went backstage to tank Mr Ping Hui for being such a good mentor and friend.

And he said " You're welcome Wee Kiat you also have been a good fried to me too", so I said my goodbye to Mr Ping and all the kind people at Mediacorp. That night I went to bed with a smile upon knowing that I proved many people wrong.

A day at the Discovery Centre

Last Saturday, I woke up at seven in the morning because I had to go on an outing to the Discovery Centre with a social worker from Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) and volunteers from Freedom Adventure Club.

We took a bus and arrived at the Science Centre at around 9.30am. The entrance fee was not cheap at $13 per person. Nonetheless, I did not have to pay a single cent. We went into the Discovery Centre and looked at the exhibits. The first exhibit was one I liked a lot. I had to pretend to a reporter and try to report old news stories with the words speeding at 10 km/h on screen! It was so fast I could not even say a thing! Despite that, it was great fun because we could play back our recordings!!! There was another attraction which caught my eye. It was called the Singa-Bot. It was a robot which could answer all our questions about Singapore and even dance and rap!

“Why are Singaporeans so obese?” I asked Singa-bot cheekily, not expecting it to have an answer.

“It must be the nasi lemak they eat every morning,” replied Singa-bot, much to my surprise and amusement.

I thought of Mr. Lee, my language teacher at school, and wondered if he ate nasi lemak every morning! He probably eats nasi lemak then sleeps every morning to maintain that round figure of his haha!

Following that, I went to the Army Museum within the Discovery Centre. There were displays of tanks and guns. In fact, there was a display of a hundred rifles at the entrance of the Museum and they could be “fired” electronically. I also found out what NS men have to go through in order to protect our country.  One of the most interesting exhibits was a slideshow that showed how Singapore could collapse in twenty years if we don’t grow our own food, have our own electricity or water. I understood what the message meant and believe that Singapore should be less dependent on other countries for necessities like food, electricity and water.

Finally, we watched a 3D show called Tornado Alley. We followed the world-famous storm chasers on their latest mission to find out more about what causes tornadoes and storms. It was an exciting show!

Before we took the bus home, we had lunch. To my surprise, it was something that was mentioned earlier this morning – nasi lemak! It was lip-smackingly delicious and I imagined Mr. Lee drooling over it. Mr. Lee wasn’t there to enjoy it! Too bad!

Overall, it had been a great trip and I thoroughly enjoyed myself!SPD's website FAC
